About this course

Pinehurst No. 3 opened in 1910 and grew out of ground Donald Ross began walking in 1907, just across the road from No. 2. Ross reworked the course through the 1920s, and Kyle Franz restored it in a project that reopened in 2017, bringing back the small crowned greens and sandy character of the original design.

At just over 5,000 yards and par 68, No. 3 is the shortest regulation course at the resort. The ground bumps and rolls more than its neighbors, and the tiny greens put the emphasis on approach play rather than length.

Together with No. 1, the course is a working piece of Pinehurst history — an early Ross design that still plays every day for resort guests.

Pinehurst Resort No. 8, also known as the Centennial Course, is an 18-hole, par-72 resort course in Pinehurst, North Carolina, designed by Tom Fazio and opened in 1996 to mark Pinehurst's 100th anniversary. The course plays to 7,099 yards, is designated an Audubon Signature Sanctuary, and routes through rolling pine forest and wetlands with a Cape-style par-4 14th hole. A 2022 renovation reworked bunkers, greens and irrigation while leaving Fazio's original architecture unchanged; the course has ranked among GOLF Magazine's Top 100 Courses You Can Play.
