About this course
Penobscot Valley Country Club, built in 1924 in Orono, is one of the northernmost Donald Ross designs in the country, laid out along the Penobscot River on sandy, well-drained soil. The par-72 course has an open, links-like feel, with sight lines that reveal much of the property from nearly any point on the grounds. It has hosted more than ten Maine Amateur championships, reflecting its long standing in the state's competitive golf. The club offers public access today, supported by a practice range and short-game facilities near Bangor.

Bangor Municipal Golf Course, known locally as "The Muni," is a 27-hole facility designed by Geoffrey Cornish in the heart of Bangor, Maine. Opened in 1963, the layout is built across three connected nines that can be combined into different 18-hole routings for players of varying abilities. Sawmill Woods Golf Course
Clifton, ME · 9.3 mi away
Sawmill Woods Golf Course is a 9-hole, par-36 layout in Clifton, Maine, about 30 minutes from Bangor, Orono, and Ellsworth. Opened in 2004, it plays just under 2,900 yards through carved, tree-lined fairways, with four sets of tees on every hole and large greens that give the short course more variety than its yardage suggests. The course has built a loyal local following on value and playability. Economy green fees, fast pace of play, and a welcoming, low-key atmosphere make it an easy weeknight loop, while the tight wooded corridors keep better players honest. A driving range on site rounds out a facility that serves as one of the Bangor area's most affordable places to play.
Hermon Meadow Golf Course
Hermon, ME · 10 mi away
Winn Pike's 1960 design in Hermon offers an 18-hole, par 72 parkland course with mature trees, some water features, and a driving range.
