Mission Resort + Club, previously known as Mission Inn Resort & Club, sits on more than 500 acres in Howey-in-the-Hills in Central Florida's Lake County. Its El Campeon course dates to 1917, when developer William J. Howey hired Chicago-based architect George O'Neil to design a course to promote his citrus land development.
The layout is known for unusually large elevation changes for Florida golf, along with spring-fed lakes and mature forest. It was reworked in the 1920s by Scottish architect Charles Clarke and has hosted NCAA and Florida high school championships over the years.
The course operates as part of a resort property with lodging, open to resort guests and the public, alongside a second 18-hole course, Las Colinas, added in 1992.

The routing climbs and drops through former citrus hills, giving it elevation changes uncommon for Florida, with several holes playing sharply uphill to greens with false fronts. The par-72 layout plays 7,015 yards from the back tees with a 74.6 course rating and 142 slope. The 16th hole has an island green surrounded by sand, palms and water.
