About this course
McCauslin Brook Golf Course sits in the Nicolet National Forest area near Lakewood, Wisconsin, on land once used as a lumber camp and later a dairy farm along the stream for which it is named. The course borders the historic Holt and Balcom Logging Camp, one of the oldest surviving logging camps in the state.
Don Bartels and family built the first nine holes in 1964, adding a second nine a decade later, and his sons continue to run the club today. The layout runs over rolling ground carved by the brook and several ponds, with a tighter back nine than the more open front.
The 18-hole, par 70 course plays to about 6,100 yards from the back tees and is open to public, daily-fee play. Bentgrass covers both fairways and greens, and pull carts, power carts and rental clubs are all available for visitors.
