The Highlands of Elgin is a municipal golf course in Elgin, Illinois, operated by the City of Elgin. Its layout incorporates nine newer holes built into a former stone quarry, featuring a twelve-acre quarry lake and holes that run along a bluff thirty to forty feet above the water. Combined with the original nine, the course now offers eighteen holes for public play. The quarry-based terrain gives the Elgin course a distinctive look among Chicago-area municipal facilities.
