Grizzly Ranch Golf Club is set in the Sierra Nevada foothills near Portola, California, about an hour from Reno and Truckee along Highway 70. The semi-private course is framed by high desert terrain and borders Plumas National Forest.
The course was designed by the late architect Bob Cupp, who routed the holes onto the natural basin of the forest floor with minimal earthmoving, working greens and fairways around creeks and dry washes rather than reshaping the land. It stretches to more than 7,400 yards from the back tees but offers five sets of tees to suit different playing abilities.
Grizzly Ranch operates as a semi-private club with public access through green fees, an 8-play pass and other visitor rate options, and it includes the Lake House for dining after a round. It sits just minutes from the towns of Portola and Graeagle and near the Lake Davis Recreation Area.
