About this course
Sierra Sage Golf Course sits beneath the eastern slopes of Peavine Mountain in Reno, Nevada, and is owned by Washoe County.
The front nine was built in 1960 by the U.S. Air Force for personnel at the former Stead Air Force Base. Washoe County took over operation as the base wound down and purchased the course outright in 1966, renaming it Sierra Sage.
The public, par-71 course plays 6,555 yards from the back tees with strategically placed bunkers and undulating greens. Practice facilities include two short-game holes, two putting greens, a grass-tee driving range, and a restaurant.
