About this course
Goat Hill Park is a municipal course on a hillside in Oceanside, California, a few miles inland from the Pacific. The course dates to the 1950s and was taken over and revived in 2014 by a group led by apparel designer John Ashworth, who reopened it with a deliberately stripped-back approach.
It is short, steep and firm. The par 65 runs up and down the hill with quirky angles, small greens and hardly a flat lie, and the ground stays fast because it is kept lean. Walking and pushing a cart is the normal way around, and the culture is closer to a public park than a resort.
Goat Hill Park is open to public play, with junior programming a central part of how the course operates.
