Gateway Cities Golf Club in Portal is uniquely situated directly on the international border between the United States and Canada. Established in 1930, the nine hole course features a clubhouse and first tee box in the U.S. while most other holes are located on Canadian soil. The ninth hole is the most famous as the tee box is in Canada and the green is in the U.S. which creates a time zone difference during certain times of the year. The course uses sand greens and measures approximately 2,745 yards. The facility serves members from both Saskatchewan and North Dakota and has been featured in Ripley's Believe It or Not for its international layout.
