Garland Lodge & Resort (Monarch)
Lewiston, MI · 0.0 mi away
Monarch is one of four 18-hole courses at Garland Lodge & Golf Resort, set within roughly 3,000 acres of Northern Michigan wilderness near Lewiston. Designed by Ron Otto, Monarch is the resort's longest course and is considered its most demanding, running through meadows, lakes, streams, and mature hardwoods and pines. It features very large green complexes and wide fairways, along with resident bald eagles that nest on the property. Monarch operates as a public resort course, available to lodge guests and outside visitors alike. Garland's practice facilities include a large driving range, putting greens, and chipping areas shared across its courses, with play generally available through the spring, summer, and fall season.
Garland Lodge & Resort (Reflections)
Lewiston, MI · 0.0 mi away
Reflections is one of four eighteen-hole courses at Garland Lodge and Golf Resort near Lewiston, Michigan, on a large wooded property in Oscoda County. The course was designed by Ron Otto, the son of Garland's founder, and opened in 1990. Compared with the resort's other layouts, Reflections is somewhat shorter and has fewer forced carries, though accurate shot placement still matters because of well bunkered greens and subtle putting surface contours. The front nine includes noticeable elevation change and doglegs, and the round finishes with a downhill par three. Guests book Reflections through Garland's single golf shop along with the resort's other three courses. The property includes lodging, dining, and additional recreation, and the course is generally open in the warmer months.
Forest Dunes Golf Club (The Loop)
Roscommon, MI · 19 mi away
The Loop at Forest Dunes in Roscommon, Michigan, is a Tom Doak design that opened in 2016. It is a reversible course: one set of 18 greens and fairways played clockwise one day as the Black Course and counterclockwise the next as the Red. Building it that way forced particular choices. Greens are open in front from both directions, bunkers sit away from the direct line so they work on either routing, and there are almost no forced carries. The result is two genuinely different tests from the same ground. The resort posts which direction is in play on a given day. The course sits on sandy soil in the Huron National Forest, next to the original Forest Dunes course.
