The rocky Hill Country terrain required blasting during construction on several holes. The course was designed by Andy Raugust, a former associate at Nicklaus Design, and opened in 2002. It plays to a par of 72 over roughly 7,121 yards from the back tees, with oak-lined fairways, a 60-acre lake and a closing par-4 18th that runs alongside the water. Avery Ranch offers five sets of tees, Tif Eagle greens and Bermuda fairways and tees, along with a clubhouse and daily-fee public play.

The 18-hole course was designed by architects Roy Bechtol and Randy Russell and opened in the early 2000s. Its links-style routing moves over rolling hills with narrow fairways, contoured mounding, bunkering around the greens, and a creek crossing the property. From the back tees the course plays to roughly 7,174 yards at a par of 72. The club closed briefly in 2011 during a water-supply dispute before reopening the following year and remains open to public play today.
