Blue Heron is one of three 18-hole courses at Ford's Colony Country Club, located just outside historic Williamsburg, Virginia.
Designed by Dan Maples, Blue Heron is the longest of the club's three courses and plays through wetlands and natural lakes, with long, challenging par 3s and generous fairways carved from the surrounding terrain. New Champion Bermuda greens provide consistent putting surfaces throughout the year, and the course is home to a variety of birds and fish.
Ford's Colony operates as a semi-private facility, with Blue Heron available to members and the visiting public. The club offers dining, a driving range, and practice areas, with golf available across its 54 holes throughout most of the year, though Blue Heron closes for maintenance in January.

The Gold Course at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club in Williamsburg, Virginia opened in September 1963 and was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. Operated by Colonial Williamsburg, the par-71 layout measures 6,817 yards from the back tees and includes seven holes with water hazards, highlighted by the par-3 16th, which plays to an island green with no fairway. The longest hole, the par-5 15th, stretches 634 yards from the tips. Rees Jones later renovated the course, adding modern turf and improved bunker drainage while keeping Trent Jones's original routing and green complexes.

Fred Findlay designed the original nine, which opened in 1949, and Robert Trent Jones Sr. carried out a renovation in 1964 in connection with the creation of the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club.
