About this course
Etowah Valley Golf Club sits in the mountains near Etowah, North Carolina, about thirty minutes from Asheville, on land that had previously been stripped bare by a brick manufacturing operation. The original 18 holes opened for play in 1967, with a third nine added in 1988.
The course was designed by architect Edmund Ault, who routed long, tree-lined par 4s and par 5s across the reclaimed land. The South and West nines reflect the traditional style of the 1960s layout, while the North nine, added later, is more open with reachable par 5s and shorter par 3s.
Etowah Valley operates as a golf resort with lodging, dining, and both member and public play across its 27 holes, and it remains one of the older mountain golf destinations in western North Carolina.
