About this course
Cherokee Golf Course was founded in 1895, making it the oldest public golf course in Louisville and one of the oldest municipal courses in the United States. The course sits inside Cherokee Park, the Frederick Law Olmsted-designed park that anchors the city's park system.
The layout is the shortest of Louisville's Metro Parks courses — a hilly, tree-lined walk with two lake holes that rewards short-iron play over power.
More than 130 years after it opened, Cherokee remains exactly what it was built to be: a public course in a public park, open to everyone in the city.
