About this course

Bing Maloney's Championship 18 is a public course in south Sacramento, California, designed by M.J. McDonaugh, an associate of Alister MacKenzie. The par-72 layout runs under mature oak trees that shape doglegs and approach angles on several holes, including a par 5 that runs alongside a former municipal airport.

It is a traditional course without gimmick holes, though sloping greens demand a solid short game. The facility uses dynamic pricing for tee times, which can be booked online up to two weeks ahead or by phone through the pro shop, and it includes a Toptracer-equipped driving range.

William Land Golf Course

Sacramento, CA · 2.4 mi away

William Land Golf Course is a nine-hole public course inside William Land Regional Park in Sacramento, California. It opened to the public on May 25, 1924, making it the oldest golf course in the Sacramento area, and was funded in part through a bequest from philanthropist William Land. The course measures about 5,208 yards and has always been a nine-hole layout. Former PGA Championship winner Al Geiberger grew up nearby and played the course as a junior golfer. The course is managed by Morton Golf, which also runs several other Sacramento municipal courses, and a multimillion-dollar restoration plan was announced in 2024 to modernize its irrigation and update tees, greens, and bunkers.

Campus Commons Golf Course sits along the American River near Sacramento State, offering a nine-hole, par-3 layout that opened in 1971. The course closed in late 2021 when the Army Corps of Engineers expanded levees along the river, then reopened in May 2025 with an entirely new routing built on a smaller footprint. The redesigned course has no sand bunkers and leans on water features and mature trees, with hole distances from about 55 to 185 yards.
