Big Run is an 18-hole daily-fee course in Lockport that opened in 1930. It plays par 72 at about 7,050 yards with a slope near 142, which makes it one of the harder public tests in the southwest suburbs. Hundreds of mature oaks frame the holes, and five lakes plus Long Run Creek bring water into play. Sources disagree on who laid it out, so BogeyMap does not list an architect. Reservations run through the pro shop.

Dubsdread is the championship course at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club in Lemont, Illinois. Dick Wilson and Joe Lee designed it, and it opened in 1964 as Cog Hill's No. 4 course. Rees Jones carried out a major renovation in 2008. It is the longest and hardest of the four courses on the property, running to about 7,554 yards with deep, steep-faced bunkering, tree-lined corridors and firmly contoured greens. The name has stuck because the course asks for full shots from the first hole to the last. Dubsdread hosted the Western Open and later the BMW Championship on the PGA Tour, along with a 1997 U.S. Amateur. It remains fully open to public play.

It plays to par 72 at roughly 6,400 yards, shorter than No. 2 and well short of Dubsdread next door. Like the rest of the complex it is daily-fee, run by Jemsek Golf, with tee times up to 14 days out.
