Anchorage Golf Course
Stunning Denali views on America's northernmost city course
About this course
Anchorage Golf Course sits on the lower hillside of South Anchorage, Alaska, in the area known locally as the Anchorage Bowl. The 18-hole public course opened in 1987 and was designed by golf architect Bill Newcomb.
The layout is carved through birch and spruce forest with hilly terrain and subtle doglegs, and closely guarded fairways require careful shot placement. Golfers regularly see views of the Chugach Mountains, the Anchorage skyline, Cook Inlet and, on clear days, Denali, and moose are sometimes seen wandering the fairways. A renovation led by Forrest Richardson and Jeff Danner updated bunkering ahead of the course hosting the 2022 U.S. Senior Women's Amateur.
The course is open to the public with a golf shop, grass driving range and practice facilities. The Alaska golf season runs roughly from mid-May through early October, though the pro shop operates year-round.
