Arrowhead Golf Club
Akron, NY
Arrowhead Golf Club is located on about 164 acres of former farmland in Akron, New York, near Buffalo. Scott Witter designed the course, with the first nine holes opening in the fall of 2003 as part of a renovation and expansion project. The 18-hole layout plays to a par of 72, with four sets of tees and more than 60 sand bunkers, plus six man-made ponds and wetland areas that bring links-style wind and water into play. It served as a qualifying site for the 2005 U.S. Senior Open. Arrowhead operates as a public course with a pro shop, driving range and practice areas, and hosts leagues, outings and tournaments throughout the season.
Ironwood Golf Course
Cowlesville, NY
Ironwood Golf Course is a public course in Cowlesville, New York, in Wyoming County, east of Buffalo and East Aurora. The 18-hole course was designed by Western New York architect Scott Witter and opened in the early 2000s. It plays to a par of 72 and stretches to about 6,416 yards from the championship tees, with tree-lined fairways on the front nine and a more open, links-style back nine with subtle elevation changes. Ironwood is open to the public during the golf season, roughly late March or early April through late October or early November, and includes a driving range with ball-tracking technology, a golf academy and space for outings and tournaments.
