Eisenhower Park Golf (Blue)

East Meadow, NY

The Blue Course is one of three 18-hole courses at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, New York, a large Nassau County park on Long Island. The course is flat and relatively forgiving, with elevated greens and paired par-3 holes that help keep play moving. It was designed in 1951 by Robert Trent Jones, one of the most prolific American golf architects of the twentieth century, and shares many design traits with the neighboring White Course. Fairway bunkers and greenside traps are the main defenses on a course that favors long, straight hitters. As a Nassau County-operated facility, the Blue Course is open to the public year round, weather permitting, with tee times available for county residents and visitors. A new irrigation system has been installed as part of ongoing course improvements.

Lil Mole Run Golf Course

Mentone, AL

Lil Mole Run Golf Course is a public 18-hole course in Mentone, Alabama, on Lookout Mountain in DeKalb County. The course plays to a par of 71 across roughly 5,400 yards from the back tees and 4,300 from the front, with narrow, sloped fairways, mounded greens and five lakes and ponds that come into play throughout the round. A notable closing stretch requires a well-placed drive and an accurate approach onto an island green in view of the on-site lounge. The bentgrass greens sit on a sand base and are generally kept in good condition. Amenities include a clubhouse with snacks and drinks, a driving range, a practice green, gas carts, and a lakeside picnic pavilion. The course is attached to Little Mole Country Club Campground, letting golfers combine a round with camping. It draws local golfers as well as visitors staying at the adjoining campground.
