Wine Valley in Walla Walla, Washington, opened in 2009 and was designed by Dan Hixson. It sits on open wheat country in the foothills of the Blue Mountains, with no trees and no housing along the holes. The design is built for wind and ground game. Fairways are very wide, the fescue turf is kept firm, and greens are approachable with running shots from several angles, so the course can be played low and along the ground rather than through the air. It is a public course, walkable throughout, and plays as a par 72 with views across the valley from the higher holes.

Seneca, OR

The Hankins Course at Silvies Valley Ranch in Seneca, Oregon was designed by Dan Hixson and opened in 2017. It shares a reversible-routing concept with the ranch's Craddock Course, so the direction of play changes daily to create different layouts, pin placements and tee options. Hankins plays to a par of 72 across 7,075 yards, free of water hazards but guarded by more than one hundred bunkers, with nine double greens shared with Craddock. The closing par 5, known as the Hixson Hole, runs along the boundary fence. The remote, 140,000-acre working cattle ranch surrounds the course with high-desert scenery.

Seneca, OR

The Craddock Course is one of two reversible 18-hole layouts at Silvies Valley Ranch, a working ranch in eastern Oregon near Seneca, at roughly 5,000 feet of elevation. The course runs along ridges overlooking the valley, with more than a hundred bunkers but no water hazards. The course was designed by Dan Hixson, who also built the companion Hankins course; the routing direction is reversed daily, so shared greens produce different rounds depending on the day. The project took about eight years to complete after ranch owner Scott Campbell brought in Hixson. Silvies Valley Ranch operates as a resort destination with lodging on site, and golf access is tied to staying at or visiting the ranch. Significant elevation changes and the high-desert altitude are practical considerations for visiting golfers.

Bandon, OR

Bandon Crossings is an 18-hole, par-72 public golf course in Bandon, Oregon, designed by Dan Hixson and opened in 2007. Located slightly inland from the coast, it is sheltered from direct ocean winds and can be played walking or with a power cart. GOLF Magazine named it one of the Top 10 New Courses of 2007. The heathland-style layout takes its shape from natural sand-dune terrain, with firm, fast fairways year-round.

Roseburg, OR

A public course in Roseburg built on reclaimed sand and gravel mines along the South Umpqua River. Oregon architect Dan Hixson designed the layout, which opened its first holes in 2021 and the full 18 in July 2022. The par-70 course plays to about 6,300 yards with four par 5s and six par 3s, holes routed along the river and around ponds left from the mining days, and old machinery still scattered around the property. An RV resort and cottages sit alongside the course.
