Painted Woods Golf Course is an 18-hole public course about four miles south of Washburn, North Dakota, roughly 35 minutes north of Bismarck. It opened as a 9-hole course in 1979 and expanded to 18 holes in 2014 with support from the Washburn and Wilton communities. Painted Woods Creek winds through 11 holes, and the layout features multi-tiered greens and five sets of tees ranging from about 3,800 to nearly 7,000 yards. It is a nonprofit, member-supported facility with a full-service clubhouse, bar and grill, and practice range.
