Clyde Johnston designed the Scottish links-style layout on former cotton fields, and it opened in 1998. The course plays 6,923 yards from the back tees with lakes, sand and grass bunkers, and mounds giving it a rugged, treeless look. Flooding from the Mississippi River in May 2011 led to an extensive rehabilitation, and the course is now privately owned and open to the public.
