Ludington, MI

Hemlock Golf Club is a public 18-hole course near Ludington, Michigan, on the state's western shore. It was designed by golf architect Raymond Hearn and opened for play in 2002, quickly earning attention from Golf Digest, Golf Magazine and the Wall Street Journal for its low-profile layout. The par-72 course stretches to more than 7,000 yards from the championship tees and is built into sandy, tree-covered dunes typical of the Lake Michigan coastline, with several greens set at ground level and framed by natural sand waste areas rather than conventional bunkers. Holes carry names such as Top O' The Hill and Dune Beast. Golf Magazine ranked Hemlock among the top new courses built in the U.S. in 2002. The course remains open to the public year-round, weather permitting, and continues to draw golfers to this stretch of West Michigan.
