Battle Creek, MI

Marywood Golf Club is a public 18-hole course in Battle Creek, Michigan, founded in 1926 as a private country club before shifting to public play in the 2000s. The course was designed by architect Maurice McCarthy, who used the rolling, wooded land to shape a naturally challenging layout. The front nine is more open while the back nine winds through hilly terrain with side-hill lies, and the slope rating reaches 132 from the blue tees. A clubhouse fire in 2002 destroyed the original two-story building, and the club has continued operating since. Marywood sits within an easy drive of Detroit, Chicago, Grand Rapids, Lansing, and Ann Arbor. The course is known locally for its scenic setting and demanding routing, requiring careful club selection because of the elevation changes across the back nine holes.
