Sugar Hills opened in 1921 and was expanded to an 18-hole layout in 1932 [1](https://testing.goodlandks.gov/2012/08/fore-take-a-whack-at-the-goodlands-sugar-hills-golf-course/#:~:text=opened%20in%201921,1932). Known as the "Gem of the Prairie," it features bluegrass fairways and bent grass greens across rolling hills [2](https://testing.goodlandks.gov/attractions/sugar-hills-golf-club/#:~:text=Gem%20of%20the%20Prairie,rolling%20hills). Several creek beds and evergreen-lined fairways add difficulty to the par 71 course, which is the only 18-hole layout in the area [3](https://www.bestpublicgolfcourses.com/course/sugar_hills_golf_club_goodland#:~:text=creek%20beds,evergreen-lined).
