About this course

Wildhorse Resort Golf Course is located at Wildhorse Resort & Casino near Pendleton, Oregon, on land of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation beneath the Blue Mountains. The layout blends a traditional American resort style with Scottish links elements, featuring rolling terrain, tall fescue rough and several lakes that come into play across the round.

The course's par-4 18th hole is its signature closing hole, running alongside a lake with bunkers guarding the left side of the fairway. The course is open to the public, with tee times booked through the resort's pro shop, and it sits adjacent to the casino, hotel and other resort amenities.

Golf Course at Birch Creek

Pendleton, OR · 8.4 mi away

The Golf Course at Birch Creek sits in the Birch Creek Valley about seven miles south of Pendleton on Highway 395. It was long known as Pendleton Country Club. The Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation bought it in 2019 and now run it alongside Wildhorse Resort, and it is open to public play seven days a week. The club traces back to 1902 in Pendleton. Its first nine at this site opened in 1958, designed by Shirley G. Stone, and a second nine followed in 1986. The result is a par-72 layout of about 6,400 yards from the back tees, with large mature trees as the main defense, plus the creek, a pond, bunkers, and a few doglegs. A shorter family tee set plays around 3,000 yards. The ground is fairly flat and compact, so it walks well. Since the purchase, the owners have kept the routing as it was and focused on upkeep, along with work on the pro shop, dining room, bar, and pool. Call the pro shop at 541-966-1655 for tee times.

Milton-Freewater Golf Course

Milton Freewater, OR · 24 mi away

Milton-Freewater Golf Course is a city-owned executive course in far northeast Oregon, just south of Walla Walla. The first nine opened in 1974 and volunteers built the second nine on the hill above in 1985. The two nines feel like different courses. The front is flat and park-like, with trees and a lake. A steep cart path then climbs to the back nine by the water tower, where elevation is the whole test, including a sharply downhill par-3 17th. It plays as a par 60 of about 3,300 yards, mostly par 3s. It is open to the public and walkable, though the back nine is a climb.

Wine Valley Golf Club

Walla Walla, WA · 29 mi away

Wine Valley in Walla Walla, Washington, opened in 2009 and was designed by Dan Hixson. It sits on open wheat country in the foothills of the Blue Mountains, with no trees and no housing along the holes. The design is built for wind and ground game. Fairways are very wide, the fescue turf is kept firm, and greens are approachable with running shots from several angles, so the course can be played low and along the ground rather than through the air. It is a public course, walkable throughout, and plays as a par 72 with views across the valley from the higher holes.
