About this course

Wachesaw Plantation East, also marketed as Wachesaw East, sits on a former rice plantation in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, on gently rolling, wooded ground. Clyde Johnston designed it, and it opened in 1996, playing to a par of 72 across five tee sets from 4,995 to 6,933 yards, with a 73.6 rating and 135 slope from the back tees. The routing runs through mature forest and old plantation waterways near the Waccamaw River, favoring accuracy over length. The par-4 18th closes with a pond guarding the green. It operates as a semi-private club.

Blackmoor Golf Club is set on the site of the former Longwood Plantation in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, along the Waccamaw River in the Myrtle Beach area. River views, wetlands and moss-draped oaks reflect the property's agricultural past, and a Civil War-era graveyard sits on the grounds. The course was designed by Gary Player and opened in 1990, remaining his only design along the Grand Strand. Doglegs appear on roughly half the holes, and Player built the layout to be playable for average golfers rather than punishing from tee to green. Blackmoor operates as a public daily-fee course, playing to a maximum of 6,614 yards from the back tees with three additional forward tee sets. It remains a regular stop for visiting golf groups in the Myrtle Beach market.

The Heritage Club in Pawleys Island is a Dan Maples design that opened in 1986 on two former rice plantations along the Waccamaw River. The par-71 layout runs 7,118 yards from the back of four tee sets, with fairways set among live oaks, magnolias and freshwater lakes. Two holes play alongside antebellum cemeteries on the property. The par-3 13th requires a long carry over water, and the par-5 18th offers risk-reward options into the finish. The course remains open to public play year-round.
