The course was designed by Dan Maples and opened in 1988, playing to a par of 72 over about 6,722 yards from the back tees, with a course rating of 72.4 and slope of 133. Water or wetlands come into play on many holes, including a par-five that the club considers one of its most demanding. Willbrook is part of the Founders Group of golf courses along the Grand Strand and is open to public play, with tee times bookable through the group's central reservation system alongside its sister courses.
