About this course
Tillery Tradition Country Club near Mount Gilead, North Carolina, was developed along Lake Tillery on the western edge of the Uwharrie Mountains, an area historically underserved by golf. The 18-hole course was designed by architect Carl Holston and opened around 2000 as the centerpiece of a residential community of roughly 350 wooded homesites. The layout winds through hardwood forest near the lake and was named one of the state golf panel's three best new courses in 2002. It lies roughly midway between Charlotte and the Pinehurst area.

Tot Hill Farm Golf Club
Asheboro, NC · 26 mi away
Tot Hill Farm Golf Club sits in the Uwharrie hills outside Asheboro, North Carolina. Mike Strantz designed it and the course opened in 2000, playing to a par 72 of about 6,614 yards. Strantz routed the holes around exposed granite outcrops, a creek and steep drops through the property rather than moving the ground to suit convention. Fairways bend around rock, several greens sit in natural bowls, and blind and semi-blind shots are part of the design. It is one of the boldest layouts of his short career and divides opinion accordingly. Tot Hill Farm is open to public play.
