Ingersoll Golf Course
Rockford, IL · 35 mi away
Ingersoll Golf Course sits on the west side of Rockford, Illinois, on land donated to the Rockford Park District in memory of Lt. Clayton Ingersoll. The public 18-hole course opened in 1922 and was laid out by Thomas Bendelow, with later work credited to Bob Lohmann and Larry Packard. Wooded, narrow fairways and gently rolling terrain define the layout, which plays to a par of 71 over roughly 6,228 yards. A 1924 brick clubhouse still anchors the property. The course includes a driving range with 12 stations and a putting green, and it offers a separate four-hole learning course added in 2004 for beginners and families. Tee times can be booked up to 14 days ahead through the park district.
