About this course
Rochelle Ranch Golf Course is a municipal course in Rawlins, Wyoming, built on land donated to the city by local ranchers Curt and Marian Rochelle. Ken Kavanaugh designed the layout, which opened in 2004 on high desert terrain at roughly 6,800 feet elevation, surrounded by several mountain ranges.
The course is one of the longest in the state, with wide, strategically bunkered fairways meant to handle the near-constant prairie winds of south-central Wyoming. Weathered-looking bunkers and sand dunes give the course a rugged, natural appearance rather than a manicured look, and only a couple of holes run parallel to one another.
Rochelle Ranch is a public, city-run facility with a par of 72. Back-tee yardage has been reported as high as the high 7,000s to nearly 8,000 yards, depending on the source, though 7,200 yards is the figure used on some course listings.
