About this course

Rio Pinar Golf has a storied history as the original host of the PGA Tour's Florida Citrus Open from 1966 to 1978. The parkland-style course features narrow fairways framed by mature oaks and pines, with a recent refresh focusing on modernizing the facilities and greens. It remains a historic fixture in the Orlando golf scene, having hosted legends like Arnold Palmer and Lee Trevino.

Stepping onto Rio Pinar feels like walking back into a golden era of Florida golf history. While it may not have the flash of the new Disney-area resorts, its 'old-school' charm and challenging, tight layout provide a refreshing alternative for serious players. The sense of history here is palpable, and the recent updates have successfully breathed new life into this classic track.

Eagle Creek Golf Club

Orlando, FL · 11 mi away

Eagle Creek Golf Club is a public course in the Lake Nona area of Orlando, Florida, close to Orlando International Airport. It was designed by architects Ron Garl and Howard Swan and opened for play in 2004 as part of the Eagle Creek residential development. The par-73 layout stretches to nearly 7,200 yards from the tips across five sets of tees, with more than sixty bunkers and wooden bulkheads lining several of the water hazards, giving it a look inspired by British and Scottish links rather than the typical Florida resort course. Eagle Creek was among the first courses in Florida to plant Mini-Verde bermudagrass on its greens. The property includes a two-story clubhouse built in a New England manor style, a restaurant, and locker rooms, and it hosts outings, weddings and a golf academy alongside daily public play.

The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club at Grande Lakes

Orlando, FL · 13 mi away

The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club at Grande Lakes is a Greg Norman design that opened in 2003 as the golf centerpiece of the Grande Lakes resort, shared with the JW Marriott next door. The layout winds through Central Florida woodlands and lagoons with water in play on nine holes, and it plays friendlier than most resort courses: wide fairways, limited rough and large, well-kept greens. The club is a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, and Golf Digest named it one of the ten best new upscale public courses in the country the year after it opened. Every group can book the Caddie Concierge program, which pairs a professional attendant with your group for yardages, target lines and course strategy. Since 2012 the course has hosted the PNC Championship, the December event where major champions play alongside a family member. The course is closed for enhancements from April through October 2026.
