About this course

Pinecroft Golf Course overlooks Crystal Lake in Benzonia, Michigan, on land the Stone family had farmed for fruit and Christmas trees since the early 1900s. Lee Stone, with Jim Cole, Andy Norman, and Craig Carlson, designed and built the course, which opened in 1991 and remains family owned and operated.

The 18-hole layout follows the area's natural topography with rolling hills, narrow tree-lined fairways, and undulating greens, along with lake views from parts of the course.

Amenities include a driving range, putting green, club rentals, and a self-serve snack counter. Pinecroft is a public course open for daily-fee play.

Champion Hill Golf Course

Beulah, MI · 12 mi away

Champion Hill Golf Course sits on about 350 acres of hills east of Beulah in Benzie County, Michigan. Lee Stone and Jim Cole designed the course, which opened in 2000 on former orchard and tree farm ground. It is an open, links-style layout with rolling bluegrass fairways, heather, deep-faced bunkers and raised, contoured greens. From the higher holes you can see Lake Michigan, Crystal Lake and the Platte Lakes. The second hole plays to an old apple tree in the fairway. It plays 6,294 yards at par 72 from the blue tees. Champion Hill is open to the public and is about 15 miles from Crystal Downs, which makes it an easy add to a Benzie County trip.

The Dozen at Arcadia Bluffs

Arcadia, MI · 13 mi away

The Dozen at Arcadia Bluffs is a 12-hole short course arranged as two six-hole loops. Its mix of par threes and par fours offers a quicker, more social alternative to the resort's two full-length courses, while broad landing areas, large greens and strategic bunkers still leave room for different lines and shots. The flexible format lets golfers play six or 12 holes. The Porch serves as The Dozen's day clubhouse, with casual food, a screened porch and patio seating. Panoramic views across the short-course property keep the golf in sight and make it an easy stop between loops or after the last hole.

Arcadia Bluffs Golf Club (Bluffs)

Arcadia, MI · 14 mi away

The Bluffs Course at Arcadia Bluffs sits on a ridge about 225 feet above Lake Michigan near Arcadia, Michigan. Designed by Rick Smith and Warren Henderson, it opened in 1999 on land that had been orchards, woods and a mining operation. The course was built to play like a windswept links, with fescue turf, large scale bunkering, tall native grasses and almost no trees near the water. Several holes run along the bluff edge, and the elevation combined with an open lake fetch make wind a constant factor. The greens are large and the fairways generous, which suits the exposure. The clubhouse sits at the high point of the property with views down the shoreline. A second 18, the South Course, opened in 2018 about a mile away, designed by Dana Fry and Jason Straka in a Macdonald and Raynor inspired classical style. Both courses are open to the public with no private memberships.
