About this course

Leatherstocking Golf Course sits on the shores of Otsego Lake in Cooperstown, New York, adjacent to the Otesaga Resort Hotel and about a mile from the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The layout has lake views and modest elevation change across roughly 90 acres.

The course opened alongside the Otesaga Resort in 1909 as a nine-hole layout, and architect Devereux Emmet expanded it to 18 holes in 1919. Later renovation work included updated tee boxes, drainage and bunkers, but the classic Northeast-style routing has changed little since Emmet's design.

Leatherstocking is operated by the Otesaga Resort Hotel and functions primarily as a resort amenity; hotel guests typically get priority access, with outside play available depending on availability. It has hosted state amateur championships and is closely tied to Hall of Fame induction weekend traditions.
