About this course
Oak Harbor Golf Club sits in Slidell, Louisiana, near Interstate 10 and about 25 minutes from downtown New Orleans, on a site crossed by bayou waterways. Architect Lee Schmitt, who worked under both Pete Dye and Jack Nicklaus earlier in his career, laid railroad ties and bulkheads along many of the water hazards, a style reminiscent of Dye's work.
The 18-hole layout opened in 1992 and includes four reachable par 5s along with a mix of shorter and longer par 4s; water comes into play on roughly a dozen holes. Generous fairways are balanced by well-bunkered, elevated greens that demand an accurate approach.
Oak Harbor plays to a par of 72 at around 6,885 yards from the back tees and operates as a semi-private club with a clubhouse, snack bar and outing services for both members and public play.
