About this course

Lake Wisconsin Country Club is located in Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin, on land adjacent to the Prairie du Sac hydroelectric dam along the Wisconsin River, about a 30-minute drive from Madison and the Wisconsin Dells.

The club was chartered in October 1925 on land granted by the Wisconsin River Power Company, with members building the original greens and clubhouse themselves. Activity paused during World War II when the power company fenced off most of the course for security, then resumed in 1948. A second nine holes was added in 1964, and the course has seen several irrigation and course-improvement projects since, most recently around 2000.

The club operates as a semi-private facility offering public green fees alongside its membership. The front nine plays across rolling hills while the back nine runs along the manmade Lake Wisconsin. It plays to a par of 70, with a longest yardage of about 5,881 yards.

Devil's Head Resort is located in Sauk County, Wisconsin, near Merrimac, with golf holes carved into the glacier-formed terrain of the Baraboo Bluffs. The resort operates two 18-hole courses, the Glacier and the Prairie Glen, alongside its ski and lodging facilities. Both courses were designed by architect Art Johnson. The Glacier Course opened in 1971 as the resort's original layout, winding through elevation changes, narrow fairways, rock outcroppings, and water hazards on several holes. The Prairie Glen Course was added later as a second 18-hole layout featuring an island green and additional water features. Devil's Head is a resort facility open to the public as well as overnight guests, with golf and lodging packages available, including unlimited-golf options. The courses operate seasonally from April through October and include practice facilities for guests preparing for their round.

Baraboo Country Club is an 18-hole course near Devil's Lake State Park in Baraboo, Wisconsin, built in the hilly ground between the Baraboo Bluffs and the Baraboo River. Draper Creek runs through the property and comes into play on several holes. The course is a semi-private facility open to public play, with five sets of tees reaching about 6,591 yards from the back. The Fore Seasons Restaurant, known locally for its Friday fish fry, overlooks the course, which operates from April through October.

Wild Rock Golf Club

Wisconsin Dells, WI · 19 mi away

Wild Rock Golf Club is part of the Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, routed through a former stone quarry along with a wooded area with a natural stream and the sandstone ridges the Dells are known for. The course was designed by Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry, the same architects behind Erin Hills, and opened on May 1, 2008. The routing incorporates rocky quarry mounds, elevation changes, and views toward the Baraboo Bluffs, with the design team adjusting the layout late in planning to feature that vista. The course is open to the public as a resort amenity, with five sets of tees and a full practice facility including a driving range and chipping area. It plays to a par of 72, with a longest yardage of roughly 7,400 yards, and has hosted state amateur and senior championship events.
