About this course

Kettle Brook Golf Club is located in Paxton, Massachusetts, on 213 acres largely surrounded by the Kettle Brook Reservoir owned by the city of Worcester. The property was previously the Ahearn family's dairy farm, operating from 1912 until 1986, and a silo from that farm still stands along the 13th fairway.

Brian Silva of Cornish, Silva and Mungeam designed the course, with construction beginning in 1997; the first twelve holes opened in May 1999 and the remaining six that August. The layout stretches to roughly 6,912 yards from the back tees at a par of 72, with bent grass fairways and greens.

The Marrone family, longtime owners of nearby Wachusett Country Club, purchased Kettle Brook in 2008 and operate it as a semi-private club offering both memberships and daily fee play.

Wachusett Country Club

West Boylston, MA · 7.0 mi away

Wachusett Country Club occupies the former Frost Farm in West Boylston, Massachusetts, with views toward Mount Wachusett and the Wachusett Reservoir. Donald Ross designed the course in 1927 for a group of Worcester businessmen, laying it across rolling hills, shallow valleys, and a winding brook. The club struggled financially during the Great Depression before being taken over in 1939 by the Marrone family, who ran it for four generations. A 1972 fire destroyed much of the clubhouse, which was later rebuilt. The course plays to a par of 72 across roughly 6,500 to 6,700 yards depending on the tee, closing with an uphill par-3 18th near the clubhouse. Wachusett offers public daily-fee tee times alongside membership programs, and includes a driving range, practice area, and clubhouse dining, remaining a working example of Ross's original routing in central Massachusetts.

Cyprian Keyes Golf Club occupies about 230 acres of countryside in Boylston, Massachusetts, near Worcester. The club opened in August 1997 and offers 27 holes split between an 18-hole championship course and a separate 9-hole par-3 course. Both courses were designed by architect Mark Mungeam, whose 18-hole routing plays to a par of 72 and measures close to 6,900 yards from the back tees, with multiple tee options for different skill levels. A colonial-style clubhouse overlooks the course and surrounding hills. The club operates on a daily-fee basis and is open to the public seven days a week from mid-March into late fall, weather permitting. Practice facilities include a double-ended driving range, a short-game area, and practice greens, and the on-site restaurant is open to the public as well.

Highfields Golf & Country Club

Grafton, MA · 14 mi away

Highfields Golf & Country Club occupies the former Magill family dairy farm in Grafton, transformed into a public eighteen that opened in 2002. The layout was shaped by Geoffrey Cornish, Mark Mungeam and Brian Silva, and plays to a par of 72 across roughly 7,000 yards from the tips. Rolling farmland terrain and open sightlines give the course a pastoral feel in the Blackstone Valley. Still owned by the Magill family, it draws golfers from across central Massachusetts for its accessible public play and well-conditioned greens.
