About this course

The Woodlands Course sits within the Golf Club at Hawks Prairie in Lacey, Washington, just north of Olympia, on more than 400 acres of dense forest. Narrow fairways wind between old-growth trees, with ponds and wetlands adding further challenge throughout the round.

The course opened in 1995 as the first of two 18-hole layouts eventually built on the property; the companion Links course followed a few years later, and Oki Golf later took over management of both under the combined Hawks Prairie name.

The Woodlands plays to a par of 72 and stretches from around 5,600 to 7,170 yards depending on tee selection, making it adjustable for a range of playing abilities. It is a public course with a pro shop, driving range and short-game practice area.

Hawks Prairie Golf Club - Links Course

Lacey, WA · 0.0 mi away

The Links course is one of two 18-hole layouts at The Golf Club at Hawks Prairie, a public golf facility a few miles north of Olympia in Lacey, Washington. Designed by Peter L.H. Thompson and opened in 1999, the Links course is built in a Scottish links style with open fairways and rolling terrain that contrasts with the more wooded Woodlands course at the same property. Water comes into play on nine of its 18 holes, and the course offers views toward Puget Sound and Mount Rainier from several holes. The Links is open to public play with five sets of tees and measures roughly 6,887 to 6,910 yards from the back tees at par 72.

Eagle's Pride Golf Course sits on Joint Base Lewis-McChord land near DuPont, south of Tacoma, with Mount Rainier in view. The Army runs it, and it is open to the public as well as military golfers. There are 27 holes. From late March the full 27-hole summer layout is in use, and from early November it goes back to the original 18. The fairways are well kept and the rough is forgiving, with tees for every level. The heated, lighted range has covered bays, and there is a brewhouse on site. Book through GolfNow or by phone.

The Home Course

DuPont, WA · 4.6 mi away

The Home Course in DuPont, Washington, opened in 2007 and is co-owned and operated by Washington Golf and the Pacific Northwest Golf Association. Designed by Mike Asmundson, it stretches to 7,420 yards from the back tees and offers views of Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains, and Mount Rainier. The course sits on the former site of a dynamite plant run by the DuPont company, for which the city is named. The first hole, "Apple Tree," borders the remnants of Fort Nisqually, and apple trees planted by Hudson's Bay Company settlers in the 1830s still line it. The Home Course is open to public play, with five sets of tees plus the shorter Little Home Course for beginners.
