First time playing this course and I'm very impressed! Course is near perfect from tee to green. Only issue I had was our foursome was behind a group of elderly men playing also as a foursome. We had a 5th join us to help with the pace because they were not interested in speeding up or letting us through. By the 9th hole we are all waiting on them to clear the green when the ranger came by and told us they didn't allow five in a group. Even though we had to still wait every shot and there was nobody behind us. I think it should be a case-by-case basis or maybe enforce the slow play rule of letting faster players through. Other than that, I give it an A+. Will definitely go back.

Nestled in the breathtaking Matanuska-Susitna Valley, Settlers Bay Golf Club offers an 18-hole experience that seamlessly blends with Alaska's natural beauty. Established in 1977 as a 9-hole course and expanded to 18 in 1996, it stands as the valley's oldest operational course. While the architect remains unknown, the design embraces wooded areas, wetlands, and spectacular views of snow-capped mountains and Cook Inlet. Each hole is uniquely named after a stop along the historic Iditarod Trail, adding a distinctive Alaskan character. The course is renowned for its exceptional putting greens, earning it the title "Home to Alaska's Best Putting Greens." Notable features include the challenging 18th hole, "Nome," once considered the toughest in Alaska, and the 2nd longest par 5, "Nikolai," at number 7. Settlers Bay has consistently received "Best of the Valley" awards, reflecting its commitment to enhancing the golfer's experience through continuous improvements and meticulous maintenance. It's a must-play for those seeking a scenic and well-maintained Alaskan golf adventure.
