About this course

EagleVail Golf Club is a mountain course in the Vail Valley, just east of Avon, owned and run by the EagleVail Metropolitan District. It is short by mountain standards, around 6,600 yards from the tips, but the fairways are narrow and water, trees and slope are in play all day.

The round opens with a par 5 that drops about 65 feet from tee to fairway. A stretch of the front nine crosses to the north side of Highway 6 along the Eagle River, and those greens tend to break toward the river. A creek runs the full left side of the par-4 6th.

It is open to the public, and the season runs roughly May through October.

Beaver Creek Golf Club opened in 1982. Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed the par-70 course, which navigates a steep, creek-lined valley at the base of 11,000-foot peaks. It has over 500 feet of elevation change, with the first hole a 546-yard downhill par five. The 10th hole is a 223-yard par three. Water influences play on twelve holes, and the 15th green is framed by ranch buildings. It is an Audubon International Certified Cooperative Sanctuary.

Vail Golf Club

Vail, CO · 5.6 mi away

Vail Golf Club is a public 18-hole course in Vail, Colorado, operated by the Vail Recreation District at the base of the Gore Mountain Range. The mountain-style layout plays to a par of 71 and measures 6,739 yards from its longest tees, with fairways that follow Gore Creek and sit adjacent to the White River National Forest. The terrain is generally flat and tree-lined for a mountain course, but greenside and fairway bunkers, along with beaver ponds along several holes, add to the challenge. Sitting at about 8,200 feet elevation, it is considered one of the more walkable courses in the Vail Valley. Onsite amenities include a full-service pro shop, a driving range, a practice area and the Grill on the Gore restaurant. The course also offers junior programs, corporate outings and instruction, and it accepts tee time bookings online or by phone.

Red Sky Golf Club - Fazio Course

Wolcott, CO · 18 mi away

The Fazio Course at Red Sky Golf Club in Wolcott, Colorado, opened in 2002 as one of two courses on a ridge above the Vail Valley. Tom Fazio routed it through aspen groves and sage meadow with the Gore Range in the background. At altitude the ball flies, so the course is long on the card and shorter in practice. The holes fall and climb with the ridge, the greens are large and heavily contoured, and wind exposure changes from the wooded sections to the open meadow ones. Access runs through Vail-area lodging and club membership, so tee sheets stay quiet compared with a standard daily-fee resort course.
