About this course
Coal Creek opened in 1990 and was designed by architect Dick Phelps [1](https://www.coalcreekgolf.com/course-info/our-story/#:~:text=opened%20in%201990,Dick%20Phelps). After suffering extensive damage during the 2013 flood, the 18-hole course was completely renovated and reopened in 2015 [2](https://coloradoavidgolfer.com/coal-creeks-high-water-mark/#:~:text=2013%20flood,2015). The layout offers a links-style front nine and a back nine with dramatic elevation changes and mountain views [1](https://www.coalcreekgolf.com/course-info/our-story/#:~:text=links-style,mountain%20views).

Indian Peaks Golf Course
Lafayette, CO · 3.4 mi away
Indian Peaks Golf Course is a municipal course in Lafayette, Colorado, a Denver-area suburb near Boulder, with the Indian Peaks section of the Continental Divide visible to the west. The course was designed by Hale Irwin with Dick Phelps and opened in 1993. The layout uses six lakes and two creeks across gently rolling terrain, with tree-lined fairways and six sets of tees ranging from under 5,000 yards to just over 7,000 yards, so the course can play short or long depending on the tee chosen. Greens are generally open in front and bunkering is used to frame rather than crowd the putting surfaces. Operated by the City of Lafayette, the course is open to the public daily, with a clubhouse, practice range, and short game area. The course hosts leagues and tournaments throughout the season.
Walnut Creek Golf Preserve
Westminster, CO · 4.5 mi away
Walnut Creek Golf Preserve is an 18-hole, par-72 public golf course in Westminster, Colorado. It was designed by Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry and opened in 1999 on the site of the former Heritage Golf Course at Westmoor. The course covers 215 acres of native prairie grass and wetlands just south of Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport and plays up to 7,563 yards from the back tees. Its Scottish links-style routing uses the natural contours of the Westminster prairie, with wide fairways and a course rating of 74.7, making it one of the more demanding municipal tracks in the Denver area.
Flatirons Golf Course
Boulder, CO · 5.1 mi away

Willie Tucker designed it, and the Works Progress Administration built it between 1936 and 1938 as the Boulder Municipal Sports Center.
