About this course
Chickasaw Park Golf Course sits in Chickasaw Park on Louisville's west side, fronted by the Ohio River. The park itself was designed by the Olmsted Brothers firm in 1923 and carries a significant place in American history: during the segregation era, it was the only city-run park in Louisville open to Black residents.
The course is a straightforward municipal layout, open to all and woven into the daily life of the surrounding neighborhoods.
That history makes the course more than a muni. For generations of Black golfers in Louisville, this was the one place in the city park system where they were welcome to play — a legacy the course still carries today.
