Sources place its opening between 1916 and 1918, and the club marked a centennial celebration in 2018. The course was designed by architect William Harries. The 18-hole layout plays to roughly 6,757 yards from the back tees with a slope of 124, set on grounds along the lake that gave the club its name. Shorewood has long hosted the Quadrangular Match, one of the oldest continuously run team golf events in North America, involving clubs from western New York and Ontario.
