About this course
Carmel Valley Ranch Golf Course is an 18-hole resort course in Carmel, California, set in the foothills of the Santa Lucia Mountains along the Carmel Valley. It was designed by Pete Dye and opened in the early 1980s, with the front nine running along the flatter valley floor near the Carmel River and a more dramatic, hillier back nine that includes steep drops into the valley on several holes. Gene Bates led a renovation completed in 2007 that restored bunkers and turf while keeping Dye's original routing and green sites intact. The course winds past vineyards, lavender fields and oak groves and is operated as part of the Carmel Valley Ranch resort, open to guests and outside play.
