About this course

Bill Roberts Golf Course was established in 1925 as the nine-hole Last Chance Golf Course in Helena [1](https://www.billrobertsgolf.com/golf/course #:~:text=opened%20as%20a%209%20hole%20course%20in%201925). The site was famously used as a landing strip by Charles Lindbergh in 1927 [1](https://www.billrobertsgolf.com/golf/course #:~:text=Charles%20Lindbergh%20flew%20his%20famous%20silver%20plane%2C%20the%20Spirit%20of%20St.%20Louis%2C%20into%20Helena). The course was expanded to 18 holes in 1976 under the design of architect Robert Muir Graves [1](https://www.billrobertsgolf.com/golf/course #:~:text=expanded%20to%2018%20holes%2C%20Robert%20Graves%20was%20selected). Significant upgrades were completed in 1993 by architect Carl Thuesen, including new tees, greens, and ponds [3](https://www.msgagolf.org/courses/bill-roberts-golf-course #:~:text=Billings%20golf%2Dcourse%20designer%20Carl%20Thuesen%20being%20credited). The par-72 layout now plays 6,782 yards from the back tees and features 43 bunkers and nine water hazards [1](https://www.billrobertsgolf.com/golf/course #:~:text=plays%206%2C782%20yards%20from%20the%20tips%2C%20with%2043%20bunkers%20and%209%20water%20hazards).
