It was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. with Roger Rulewich leading the work and opened in May 1992 as the first site on the Trail, developed by the Retirement Systems of Alabama. The Ridge plays 7,053 yards and has some of the steepest elevation change on the Trail. It shares the 54-hole property with the Valley Course and an 18-hole short course.
