About this course
Beacon Lakes Golf Club is a public 18-hole course in Dickinson, about 20 miles from downtown Houston and roughly the same distance from Galveston. It opened in 1996 to a design by Charles and Dean Wilson, and Dean Wilson remains the head professional.
The par-72 layout measures 6,777 yards from the gold tees at a 73.8 rating and 144 slope, stepping down through blue at 6,368 yards and white at 5,756. Water and sand are both in play, and the course is described as fun but with enough length and trouble to hold a good player's attention. Greens and fairways are bermuda.
The whole facility is lighted, which is the reason to know about it. The 18-hole course, the all-grass driving range, the chipping green and the putting greens are all lit for evening play, so a full round after work is realistic. Tee times run through the pro shop, and late tee-off windows vary by season, so calling ahead is sensible.

Bayou Golf Course
Texas City, TX · 7.6 mi away
Bayou Golf Course is a public course in Texas City, Texas, sited on 200 acres along Moses Bayou near Galveston Bay. Houston architect Joe Finger designed the original layout, and Mike Nuzzo later led a renovation that rebuilt greens with Mini-Verde Ultra Dwarf turf, enlarged putting surfaces, reworked bunkers, and added new tee complexes on several holes. Elevated greens and tee boxes, water on 12 holes, and steady bay winds shape the challenge. A driving range and a separate pitch-and-putt course are available alongside the main 18 holes, and the course is open to public play year round.
