Apple Valley Golf Club is one of the courses at Rumbling Bald Resort in Lake Lure. Dan Maples designed it, and it opened in 1986. The par-72 layout measures 6,756 yards and, unusually for the mountains, most shots play level or downhill. Fairways are wide and the greens are large and rolling, recently converted to Champion Bermuda. Tee times are tied to the resort.
