Cape Ann Golf Club occupies a coastal site above the salt marshes along the Essex Coastal Scenic Byway in Essex, Massachusetts, with views toward the Essex River and Crane Beach. The nine-hole course was designed by Eugene 'Skip' Wogan, a protege of Donald Ross, and opened for play in 1931. Owned and operated by the Stavros family since its founding, the course has been gradually updated with new bunkers, tee boxes and an irrigation pond while keeping its original character intact. It is the only public golf course on Cape Ann, offering walkable nine-hole rounds with a clubhouse pub for food after the round.

Kennebunk, ME

Webhannet Golf Club is a semi-private club in Kennebunk, Maine, founded in 1901 one block from the Atlantic Ocean at Kennebunk Beach. The course was designed by Eugene Skip Wogan, who worked alongside Donald Ross while superintendent at Essex County Club and also designed Tedesco Country Club and Blue Hill Country Club. Webhannet's par-71 layout measures 6,100 yards from the back tees, with serpentine fairways, tidal-fed water hazards, and undulating greens along the coast. Only one of its four par-5 holes extends beyond 500 yards. The club welcomes visitors and vacationers from mid-April through mid-October in addition to its members. Author Kenneth Roberts, a Kennebunk Beach resident, recalled playing in the course's 1901 opening round.
