Madden's on Gull Lake - The Classic

Brainerd, MN

The Classic at Madden's is an 18-hole golf course at Madden's on Gull Lake, a family resort near Brainerd, Minnesota. It opened in 1997 after a multi-year, largely in-house construction that preserved much of the natural terrain. The course was designed by longtime Madden's course superintendent Scott Hoffmann, who worked with a group of consultants including golf architect Geoffrey Cornish and former U.S. Amateur champion John Harris. The result is a hilly layout with narrow, pine-lined fairways and holes that call for shots over water from sidehill or downhill lies, along with traditional touches like wooden flagsticks and a caddie program. The Classic operates as a resort course, generally available to Madden's guests and outside players with a tee time, alongside easier alternate layouts at the same property.

Crosswoods Golf Course

Crosslake, MN

Crosswoods Golf Course is a 36-hole facility that offers public access in Crosslake, Minnesota. The property features three distinct nine-hole courses named Sunrise, High Noon, and Sunset, which were developed between 1985 and 2002 by architect Michael Stone. A fourth dunes-style addition called The Farm Golf Links was designed by Scott Hoffmann and completed the complex. The Sunrise and High Noon courses wind through dense northern woods and provide a classic tree-lined golfing experience with views of local wildlife. In contrast, the newer Farm links utilize reclaimed agricultural land to create a rugged aesthetic inspired by sandhills. The Sunset course operates as an executive layout that mixes original holes with modern twists to provide variety for all players.
